MARISSA POWELL
New Vistas High School Diploma

Plans after graduation: I have been accepted into IUNs education program to pursue a career in elementary education!

Favorite NEO memory: My favorite memories from the two years I attended NVHS would have to be the time we went to the rail cats game as an incentive/field trip and every part of the student council program that I got to take part in. Winning prom princess and student council president was pretty dope too, but these definitely topped off my experience.

Moment of pride: I'M GRADUATING A WHOLE YEAR EARLY!!!

Thank you: I would like to start by thanking the teachers/staff/ & administration at NEO because without this school, I don't know where I would be in my education right now. Secondly I'd like to thank my amazing support group, consisting of my parents, my family, friends, my best friends (Marisa & Mandy) and my girlfriend Lacey. They have always motivated me and pushed me to do what is best for myself, not whats best for the people around me. Last but not least, thank you to those who told me I couldn't do something or do something without them, because here I am doing it and there you are watching me.

Message to my classmates: I appreciate you all so much! I'm so sorry I didn't have the time at the end of this year to give you all your dodge ball tournament :( Thank you for giving me the best two years at NEO. xoxo - Mar

Plans after graduation: Enter the workforce and continue to work as an artist.

Favorite NEO memory: I will remember getting real 1 on 1 help from my teachers.

Moment of pride: I'm proud of pushing myself to understand math and all the more difficult subjects that I was never able to handle before. The environment made it easier for me, but I am hoping that as I keep growing, I will be able to take on more, harder challenges with just as much ease.

Thank you: Ms. Bustos: for being a teacher and a friend that I can vent my personal issues to and not have judgement or anything. She is really smart and insightful, and I'm surprised how easily I felt close to her. I wish we can talk everyday. Miss Grayer: for being my artistic and amazing and kind friend. She inspires me to be good and artistic and even helps encourage me with art opportunities and the information about getting into art. I owe her a lot. Her art club was amazing and special to me. Miss Williams: my math teacher and friend. She is sweet and full of so much character. I love the days where she's in her happy moods, which is like all the time. Despite any complications, she keeps on smiling and working hard for her students even if they have trouble working hard for themselves. She's inspiring and puts up with a lot and deserves an award. Miss V: even though I didn't have her for Spanish, I had her for my club. She gave me and everyone there so many extra opportunities we were lucky to have. I wouldn't have made any cool insightful after-school memories without her. I will always love the art museum the most. Our principal Mrs. Swope: this school has done a lot for me and others, and it might not be made of gold, but it sure has it on the inside. We just have to keep working and staff already knows we can do it. Our principal helps ensure that.

Mariah, I am so proud of you that you've reached your goal and are graduating! This is such an amazing moment. I commend you for your overall strong work ethic, wonderful spirit, willingness to go above and beyond to learn, and your amazing talents! Each day I encountered with you, my heart just smiled because of how positive you were. Thank you for being such an amazing student in my class! Also, thank you for all of your "Doodle Bops" you'd leave me on each and every one of your assignments. They made my day! I know you will go very far in life, and I'm grateful I was able to be a part of your journey. Congratulations on graduating! I will truly miss you. Keep in touch please. Love, Mrs. C. Williams

Mariah, You’re one of the most talented students I’ve ever had as a student. Your work is remarkable and at most times I was at a loss for words. You are in your own lane. It was a pleasure having you in my class. You’re such a respectable young lady. I wish you much success on your next adventure. Keep creating! -Love Ms. Grayer
