Earn a career certificate, even if you didn't finish high school

If you believe you can't earn a college-level career certification because you left high school early, we're here to tell you otherwise.

Thanks to a new partnership between NEO and Ivy Tech Valparaiso, adults who are 22 years or older (and who have 12 or fewer high school credits remaining) are eligible to enroll in Diploma Plus.

Diploma Plus is a unique program that allows adults to finish their high school diplomas through NEO's New Vistas High School while also earning a career certification at Ivy Tech. All your high school credits can be completed offsite, so you can keep moving forward while still earning an official diploma.

New Vistas is a tuition-free high school, and there can be financial aid opportunities through Ivy Tech. It's all part of NEO's continued efforts to remove barriers to a quality education.

To get started with Diploma Plus, or if you have questions, email NEO's New Vistas High School counselor, Christina Rose, here

FAQs of Diploma Plus:
  • How long does it take to receive my high school diploma?

    • This depends on the number and type of credits you have remaining from high school. Some classes may count towards both your certificate and diploma, which makes the process faster. Our guidance counselor will work with you to determine how much time it will take.

  • What’s the difference between earning a high school diploma and getting my GED?

    • The high school diploma is based on credits for specific classes. The GED (now actually called the HSE) is a single test. They are treated as equals for college entrance.

  • How much does Diploma Plus cost?

    • This depends on your classes. New Vistas is tuition free, but you may need to pay for one or two Ivy Tech classes.

  • How long does it take to receive a certificate?

    • This also is dependent on the certification you choose. Our student support team will help you identify the timeline that works for your needs.

  • What can I do with a certificate?

    • Certificates help you become specialized in a particular skill or career path. With the right certificate, you may be able to move up in your current career or start the path to a better paying one.
