If you are in need of completing your high school education, then you have found the right place. NEO Adult Learning Center provides educational opportunities to all Indiana residents who are over the age of 16, do not have a diploma and are not currently enrolled in a public high school. The learning center is also a place for students who dropped out of school and want to return to earn their HSE. New students need to attend and intake session before beginning classes.
- Foundations Class: This class is located in room 27 of the building. Debby Gearhart is the instructor and she has been an adult education teacher for over 20 years. The Foundations Class is a pre-HSE class. Students assigned to this class will build upon the skills they currently have and be instructed in the areas of non or partial mastery in language, reading and general math. When their skill level has reached the HSE prep level they will transition to the Bridges Classroom.
- Bridges Classroom: This classroom is located in room 28 of the building. Adrienne Carrol is the instructor for this class. Higher level math such as Algebra and Geometry will be the focus of the math instruction. Language instruction focuses on editing high school level English grammar and learning to write an essay. Reading instruction is content-based. Students will read in the areas of literature, science and social studies. Scientific calculator instruction and test taking strategies are also a focus area
- Evening Class: For students who's schedule does't fit into the traditional daytime classes, NEO offers a night class. David Shepherd is the instructor and has over 20 years of teaching experience in adult education. He is an excellent math teacher as well as an excellent language instructor. Mr. Shepherd and his teaching assistant provide instruction from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM Monday through Thursday during the normal school year. There are no night classes in the summer session.
