• VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

    Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities 

    • Tutor individual students in reading, math, and/or language at ALL levels (elementary through high school)
    • Work with beginning, intermediate, and advanced English language learners
    • Assist with general office work (grading papers, filing, data entry, answering phones, etc.
    • Work a 3 hour shift as an adult education teacher aide (data entry, follow-up phone calls, photo copying, grading, etc.)
    • Help organize or assist with a NEO events and projects such as a College and Career Fair, graduation ceremony, fundraising events, marketing, alumni group outreach, etc.  See below for current projects we need help with

     Current Task-Specific Volunteer  Opportunities  

    • Assist with our Alumni Outreach “Ambassadors Program”
    • Contact alumni (New Vistas High School graduates, NEO GED graduates) for follow-up data
    • Assist with NEO’s move in August (July and August)
    • Packing, loading and unloading boxes of books and supplies onto moving trucks
    • Participate in onsite work at the new facility (in conjunction with United Way Day of Caring)
    • Final cleaning before opening day (most likely last 2 weeks in August)
    • Painting of the 3 steel sides of the building (anytime this summer or next fall)
    • Landscaping – anytime during the summer and possibly into the fall
    • Lend your expertise to NEO’s Capital Campaign, fundraising and marketing initiatives 

    Volunteer Requirements:

    • Enjoy working with people
    • Conduct themselves in a professional, caring, and respectful manner
    • Commit to a schedule and activity that works for them
    • Be a high school or GED graduate and pass a criminal background check which is provided by NEO at no cost to the volunteer
